Negativity of body shaming has never stopped me from being who I am: Zara Noor Abbas

The 'Khamoshi' actor recently opened up about her struggle with online trolls

Actor Zara Noor Abbas Siddiqui, who is known for her character in drama serial Khamoshi, recently opened up about her struggle with online trolls and people from the media industry who body shamed her, in an interview with the BBC Asian Network.

“There was a time when I had to tell myself to stop and make it a point to embrace myself, and my flaws – no matter what size I am,” the Chhalawa actor said.

The 28-year-old star further revealed, “I was body-shamed for a long time on social media, of course. I had to block out of it because if I kept on listening to them than I was going to lose focus."

Siddiqui has been confident about her appearance, always owning her flaws.

The Deewar-e-Shab actor said, “I did go through a patch where a lot of people came up to me, telling me that I should not wear jeans or sleeveless because I am too big. That is when I thought that if this person feels something about me, I should do it twice, take pictures and put it up.”

Siddiqui declared, “The negativity of body shaming has never stopped me from being who I am."

When asked how she handled all the criticism, the actor replied, “I think criticism always is very hurtful. I have met people who have come up to me and asked me to go for liposuction and to get a few parts of my body cut but it has always hurt me, it has always made me cry, it has always made me sob about my identity."

Previously, Siddiqui took to Instagram and shared a collage she made of herself. One was a photo shopped version, while the other one was an unedited picture.

The caption of the collage stated how the actor was ‘too big and broad’ to work with a few brands and how it had taken a toll on her mental health, making her feel guilty every time she ate and how she channeled all that negativity into acceptance and self-love.

Celebrities like Mehwish Hayat, Hania Aamir and Azfar Rehman, including her husband Asad Siddiqui came to the comments section to show support for the actor.

On the work front, Siddiqui is busy promoting her upcoming film Parey Hut Love which is set to release this Eidul Azha.
