MPA Musarat Jamshaid Cheema, in a resolution submitted to the Punjab Assembly Secretariat, welcomed Trump’s offer to play the role of mediator between Pakistan and India over the Kashmir issue.

However, she also expressed her gloom over India’s denial of Trump’s statement that Indian Prime Minister Narendar Modi had asked the US president to mediate over the Kashmir issue.
She stated that this House believes that India is adamant on keeping up appearances and servicing its own ego. She said it was regrettable that India backpedalled from owning its own request. She highlighted that this sort of retraction showed that India was not kenned on peace in the region.
She applauded the role of the US president and welcomed his offer. The MPA said that resolving the Kashmir issue was need of the hour for this region. Cheema said the house should declare the meeting between Trump and Khan as a success.

She also lauded the efforts to strengthen Pak-US ties. She hoped Khan’s visit would leave a positive impact on administrative and economic matters.
The MPA said PM Khan presented the Kashmir case before the US president in an effective manner. She pointed out that even the Kashmiri leadership was pleased with the PM’s portrayal. She hoped the meeting would play a significant role in improving Pakistan’s internal and external affairs.
