A legal justice system must perpetuate the culture of equality
TURBAT, BALOCHISTAN: One studies law to uphold the ideas of justice, equality and peace by providing fundamental rights to every citizen in order for them to live a peaceful and happy life. The state enforces laws to protect us from evildoers thereby punishing those who go against them. A legal justice system must perpetuate the culture of equality. The strength of a nation lies in a well-established constitution. However things in Pakistan are quite different.
In order to get admissions to the LLB course, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered that the students must pass the Law Admission Test conducted twice a year under the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
On the 21st of July, the HEC successfully conducted its first test. However, at Turbat University, the test brought nothing but disappointment. Students were not allowed to take part in it due to incomplete examination slips. The slips issued to them by the HEC were without any pictorial evidence that is a necessary for sitting any examination. It is not only irresponsible on the part of the HEC but a major failure of the education system of Pakistan which claims endeavouring to provide students with adequate educational facilities.
It was a sad moment to see the dreams and aspirations of those wanting to be future lawyers, crushed. But who is to be blamed? Should the HEC be blamed for sending incomplete slips or the candidates for being unaware about the pictures needed in the first place?
I urge the HEC to implement proper management system while conducting such tests so that students do not face any problems in future.
