Corruption

Letter July 22, 2019
Avarice and corruption have made life miserable for the common people

TURBAT, BALOCHISTAN: Corruption is a common occurrence in Pakistan. It is increasing poverty and retarding the economic growth. Most government ministers, leaders and officers are involved in this widespread abominable practice.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family is one of the famous examples. Corruption stalls progress and development of the country and pushes it towards backwardness. Unemployment is increasing. The poor are unable to get jobs and education due to corruption. Poverty is increasing.

The poor cannot afford two square meals a day. Justice and equality seem lost and basic humanity seems to have taken the back seat. The government should take deterrent measures to eliminate corruption and avarice. We should not think of making progress and development without first eliminating corruption.

Corruption has become an all-pervading ill in our country. Most of our public-sector organisations such as Pakistan International Airlines, Pakistan Steel and the Pakistan Railways are suffering from huge losses.

We as nation appear to have no realisation how the menace of corruption is damaging our country. Avarice and corruption have made life miserable for the common people. It is mainly due to corruption that we have failed to overcome the problem of electricity shortage even after so many years.
