A day after Mohsin Abbas Haider was accused of assault by his wife, the actor has come out not only denying the allegations but also claiming Fatima Sohail is "trying to play the woman card".

Sohail had posted images on Facebook that she had been suffering from domestic abuse at Haider's hands.

While speaking to the media in Lahore Sunday night, Haider said: "Whatever she [Fatima Sohail]  is saying, is a lie, I never touched her. It is true that I have had anger issues in the past but I'm a changed man."

He claimed his wife is trying to play the "woman card" which everyone is unfortunately buying into.

When asked if he had any hard feeling towards Sohail and if the couple could still reconcile, the actor said:"I don't hold anything against her, she's a troubled woman and the only way forward is divorce."

Haider said that he wanted to divorce his wife a while ago but was unable to do so and could only get a separation.

He went on to say that once their son was born, he remained chose not to opt for divorce and wanted a separation instead. "I would see my son's face and think… fine I'll stay for his sake.”

According to the actor, his wife refused to accept a separation from him. "I craved for family life and wanted a second marriage."

FIR registered against actor Mohsin Abbas Haider for assaulting his wife

He said that Sohail did not agree to him taking a second wife. "I don't know if it was jealousy or something but she didn't want me to go through with it under any circumstances."

Haider claimed that Sohail would go and spread lies about him to people in the media industry after which they would refuse to work with him.

He claimed that his wife, who was angered at him wanting to marry again, came with their children to his home at 2am saying she would not leave him alone until he puts a property in her name.

The actor said that his wife's allegations are all a part of a conspiracy against him being carried out by his “enemies” in the showbiz industry.

"Every woman who accuses a man with tears in her eyes can't be telling the truth," he added.

Haider further said that he has been raised by a family that has taught him how to respect women.

He said that a fake Facebook reply by his name is being shared on social media to his wife's assault allegations post. "The passwords to all of my social media accounts are with her [Sohail], not with me."

When asked about his wife's claims that he was having an extramarital affair, the actor said: "There is no truth into this whatsoever."

While refuting his wife's allegations that upon the birth of their child he was with another woman at the time, Haider said: "I was with my producer on a shoot working, not having an affair."

On another query about how he would proceed further, he said: “I was never taught to happy trying to demonise others with false claims, it’s not in my DNA."

The under-fire actor added that he was coming from the police station where he had given his response to the case registered against him by his wife. "She's not a bad woman, let’s just say I was never her type. I'm not here to attack her in anyway whatsoever.”
