Six injured as IED explodes in North Waziristan

Six injured including four security personnel and two civilians

MIRAN SHAH: Six people were seriously injured, including four security personnel and two civilians as an IED exploded on Datta Khel area road on Saturday, security sources disclosed to The Express Tribune over the phone.

Security forces were deployed to control and watch over the law and order situation in North Waziristan as polling was under way for 16 PA seats in the newly merged districts, when a security forces vehicle ran over a planted IED in Boya Tehsil of the district leaving four security personnel seriously injured, sources added.

The IED was planted next to the main road, when the vehicle of the security forces ran over it, which also injured two passerbys, who along with security forces were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in tribal districts, he added.

Security forces have cordoned the area and are conducting search operations, while no arrests were reported.
