In the first phase of the project, the British Council will provide training to teachers from the provincial capital, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swat, Malakand, Shangla, Battagram, Chitral, Mansehra and Haripur. If it proves successful, the training will be extended to other districts in the second round.
A senior official of the education ministry, who was present during the signing ceremony, said that teachers will be trained to retain the interest of kids in school and to mould teacher behaviour according to the new teaching methodology.
The ultimate goal of the training, he said, is to reduce the drop out ratio. He added that in the first phase, they were targeting teachers in backward districts of K-P to bring these teachers on the required levels for the new teaching methodology. Moreover, he said that these teachers will be exposed to the best teachers training methods available in the world.
