ORAKZAI: At least eight people were killed and 25 injured when roof of their house collapsed in Lerra area of Orakzai district on Thursday.

According to police, a marriage ceremony was going on when roof of a house collapsed due to heavy rainfall.

The victims also included women and children. Soon after the incident, area people rushed to the site and started rescue operation to pull out those buried under the rubble. Later, Rescue 1122 teams also reached and participate in the rescue operation. The injured were shifted to Kalaya hospital for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, at least one person was electrocuted and another critically injured in district Abbottabad and Haripur on Thursday. Police said that a 46-year-old woman was grazing her goats in a forest near Nawanshahr, Abbottabad when she touched an electricity pole. She received electrical shock and died on the spot.

Separately, a young auto-mechanic Gohar Khan, inadvertently touched wires hanging loose from poles in Hatar Industrial Estate (HIE). He received heavy shock and was rushed to Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Burn Centre, Wah in critical condition.
