Govt to build 4 housing projects in 3 major cities

Identifies locations where low cost housing projects will be set up in Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi

ISLAMABAD: The federal government is planning to start four low cost housing projects in three major cities of Pakistan – Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi – under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme in partnership with the private sector.

According to sources, the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation – an organisation working under the Federal Ministry of Housing and Construction – is working on initiating high rise projects as part of the Naya Pakistan initiative in the above three cities.

Two of the projects – respectively comprising 500 housing units and 2,700 units – will be constructed at two places in Lahore while 4,000 housing units will be constructed in Karachi under a joint venture.
The 500-housing unit project of Lahore will be built at Katcha area while 2,700-housing unit project will be set up at Manga Utara area.

The process of verification for the title is under process these days.
The third project is under consideration in Peshawar. It will be built at Balarazai area on over 3,500 kanals. The Karachi project will be built at Jam Chakro area near Surjani Town on an area of 184 kanals.

The Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation has already got clearance for the piece of land in Karachi from revenue authorities.
