His achievements and contribution to hockey will never be forgotten

KECH, BALOCHISTAN: Legendary hockey Olympian Brigadier (retd) Abdul Hamid Hamidi passed away on Thursday at the age of 92. He was admitted to CMH Rawalpindi when his health deteriorated and passed away two days later. He will always be remembered for his contribution to hockey. The legend was the only Pakistani to participate in four Olympics, and led Pakistan to win its maiden gold medal in Rome in 1960. Later on, Hamidi served in significant positions, including Director General (DG) Army Sports Board, DG National Sports Trust and DG Pakistan Sports Board. He also filled in as Secretary General of the Pakistan Hockey Federation for some time after his retirement from the military. His achievements and contribution to hockey will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in peace and his family granted patience!
