Road and railway accidents occur at frequent intervals but the authorities remain unconcerned

KECH, BALOCHISTAN: A bus carrying passengers met with an accident which claimed 24 lives and injured at least 46 others, on Thursday. The authorities say that the bus went out of the driver’s control when he was overtaking a trailer and it overturned near the Bahtar Interchange on the Peshawar-Islamabad motorway. Every other day, such accidents keep occurring resulting in numerous deaths. Unfortunately, the authorities concerned remain unmoved and do not show any interest in taking action against careless drivers who continue to use mobile phones while driving. Many are often also sleep-deprived, or are speeding. I urge the authorities to take serious steps to eliminate the causes of such accidents and take those responsible to task.

In Pakistan, road and railway accidents occur at frequent intervals. But the authorities remain unconcerned. People are like stones and wood as they do not protest.
