SAHIWAL: Shopkeepers and locals beat up Special Branch officers after the latter tried to climb into an alleged quack’s clinic on Arifwala Road on Thursday.

It was reported that a quack had been running his clinic on Adda Balewala Mor Arifwala Road for a long time. Special Branch police and the Health Department Deputy District Officer Health Saad Bin Saeed and his team reached the spot. As per a Health Department source, the clinic was not open, but Special Branch personnel tried to jump the wall. However, they were caught and subsequently thrashed by the shopkeepers.

The Health Department refused to take further action when they saw that the clinic was closed.

According to the police, the Health Department’s Deputy District Officer Health Saad Bin Saeed went to the clinic and Special Branch personnel were outside.

After 10 minutes, Saeed left and the conversation between the officials is yet to be revealed, but they all finally left without taking any action.

On the other hand, a police source told a different version of events and said the clinic was open. The sources claimed that Saeed went inside the clinic and left after 10 minutes without taking any action.

He added special branch officials were standing outside the clinic and that was when locals caught hold of the personnel to thrash them.

A video of the incident was filmed and witnesses said that the branch officials tried to run to save their lives.

The Special Branch SP is investigating the matter.
