Premier, Sindh governor discuss province's political situation

PM Imran in Karachi for day-long visit

Prime Minister Imran Khan held a one-on-one meeting with Governor Sindh Imran Ismail upon arrival in Karachi on Wednesday.

The two leaders discussed the province's political and security affairs and developmental projects.

On the occasion, the premier and the governor agreed that the business community plays an integral role in the uplifting of the economy. "Businessmen must be facilitated," the two leaders maintained during the high-level moot.

PM Imran also met with delegates from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association.

The delegation presented to the premier various proposals pertaining to tax reforms, revenue enhancement, and increasing employment, ease of business and investment.

Furthermore, the delegations elaborated on the issues faced by the respective sectors, after which PM Imran directed ministers and the chairman FBR to take further action.

The prime minister also met delegations from the textiles, leather and garment sectors.

High-ranking officials including Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi, Minister for Economic Affairs Hammad Azhar, Adviser to the PM on Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood, Adviser to the PM on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Shabbar Zaidi, Adviser on Institutional Reforms Ishrat Hussain, Board of Investment Chairman Syed Zubair Haider Gilani and State Bank of Pakistan Governor Reza Baqir accompanied the premier to the meetings.
