KECH, BALOCHISTAN: I congratulate the young Pakistani batsman Babar Azam for scoring the highest number of runs in the ongoing ICC World Cup tournament. He broke Javed Miandad’s record of 437, which had remained unbroken since 1992. His average run rate then was 62.42, through nine matches and five half-centuries. Azam finished his World Cup journey with a whopping 474 runs, with a score of 96 runs against Bangladesh on Friday in Pakistan’s last match in the championship. His average run rate was 67.71 in eight matches. He managed to score one century and three half-centuries. As a fan of cricket, I congratulate him for the record. The country truly appreciates his efforts and applauds him for his brilliant performance in the tournament.
