The Pakistani cricket team ended their run in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 on Friday and as disappointed as everyone is, local celebrities are doing their part to keep everyone's spirits alive and make sure the Shaheens get the respect that they rightly deserve.

Shaniera Akram, wife of former captain Wasim Akram and a die-hard supporter of the Pakistani cricket team, lead the pack tweeting, "If any team could completely blindside the whole World Cup and win an almost impossible match, it’s Pakistan. But if not, we walk away with our head held high and then do the next best thing: support Australia in the semis "

Actor Mehwish Hayat chose a verse from a popular Urdu poem to show her support to team Pakistan. "Girte hain shehsawaar hi maidaaan-e -jung mein. The Pakistani cricket team did their best and we shall always support our boys through thick and thin. Next time, in 2023, Inshallah, jeet hamari hogi, World Cup hamara hoga  ."

Actor-turned-television host Fahad Mustafa tweeted, "Pakistan played well in this World Cup. A dignified performance over all. As a Pakistani, as a cricket lover, I am proud of my team and and we all should be. Congrats."

Singer Farhan Saeed thought winning a match with a margin of 316 was aiming too high. He tweeted, "Beating with the margin of 316 runs and that too at Lords is too much to ask, really! Just play your game, win it boys! A little bit of bad luck, quite a few mistakes but nevertheless, it wasn't a bad performance at all! ."

Actor Humayun Saeed added, "Great game today, Pakistan! Well done on an all-around great performance. Tough luck, we didn’t make it to the semis but it's worth remembering  that we beat two semi-finalists England and New Zealand. Best of luck for your future matches. We are proud of you!! Pakistan Zindabad!! "

Model Veena Malik said, "4 out of 4! Well-done Pakistan! Jis ne jo kehna hai kahay, this Pakistan team is one of the best in this tournament. They took their time but when they united, they beat teams like England, New Zealand, South Africa and Bangladesh with precision. "
