Musician Ali Noor hospitalised, family issues statement requesting for prayers

Ali Hamza shares liver donors from the family needed only as a backup plan

KARACHI: On Tuesday midnight, cousin and fellow musician Rakae Jamil updated a Facebook status regarding Ali Noor's health. He appealed for donors, disclosing that Ali Noor of Noori fame has been diagnosed with acute liver failure.

This created a huge hue and cry in the industry making everyone reach out to the musician's friends and family.  Noor's uncle Azam Jamil also shared a similar state of emergency on twitter.

As much as the details were being shared out of good intent, Ali Hamza, Noor's brother and the other half of the band was quick to issue a statement clarifying some of the confusions.

"Guys!! No need to panic as yet. Inshallah Ali Noor will be back on his feet very soon! He has suffered an intense bout of Hepatitis A. There is a possibility of liver damage, but he’s being monitored by the best in the business."

"As for needing a liver donor, the doctors are saying that we do need to have people on standby, but they can only be family members - our local law does not allow outside of family donors. But more than anything, most probably, Inshallah Inshallah we won’t have to go that route," said the statement.

"We are already seeing [an] improvement in Ali Noor’s condition. What we need are prayers from everyone that Ali Noor recovers in full form! Yes to all family members and extended family members we are communicating that if they are a match (O +/-, B +/-) they should connect with us. But that’s as far as we can go. I can’t thank you enough for all your support!! God Bless You!"

So while our favourite rockstar is critical, the situation is not as urgent as we initially felt, and it is clear that the only thing the fans can do is pray for a speedy recovery.

Earlier confusions

Before Hamza had cleared the air, Noori from their official page also sent out an appeal for liver donors.

"Need a liver donor for Ali Noor in the next 48 hours. Blood groups..Only B +ve, Be -ve, O+ve, O-. In Islamabad ...please it's urgent."

A similar post was shared from Ali Noor's Instagram handle.

The entire industry was in a state of shock. They used their own social media handles to campaign for Noor's recovery. As mentioned in the statement, the bit asking for donors in the tweets should be specifically ignored for only close family members can donate an organ, that too if the situation arises.

Ali Noor is in critical condition. He is at Quid e Azam hospital Islamabad.
Looking for a healthy donor from 18yrs to 45yrs. who is willing to donate his liver.The family will do the needful to manage logistics. Doctors have given 36-48hrs for his life.
