RAWALPINDI: The government should address concerns and grievances of traders as the budget 2019-20 carries multiple anomalies, said Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) President Malik Shahid Saleem. In a statement on Tuesday, he said every sector, from the industry to trade, was suffering due to the high cost of doing business as measures taken in the budget were not in favour of the business community. He pointed out that the business community had been pushed deep into the quagmire of uncertainty, higher taxation, regulatory duties and hike in gas and electricity tariffs. “We do appreciate certain measures taken in the budget with respect to documentation of the economy but ground realities display the opposite picture,” he added. “The licence and registration will open the floodgates of corruption in the name of monitoring and registration.”
