Eight killed in van-truck collision

A family was travelling to Faisalabad from Lahore in a van after attending the funeral prayers of a relative

FAISALABAD: As many as eight persons of a family, including three women and two children, were killed while another sustained serious injuries in a van-truck collision near Sahianwala Interchange on Tuesday.

Rescue officials said that a family was traveling to Faisalabad from Lahore in a van after attending the funeral prayers of their relative.

After they reached Sahianwala Interchange in Pindi Bhattian Motorway, the van collided with a truck. Consequently, eight people sustained critical injuries. Seven of these people died on the spot including Nadeem Anjum, 40, Muhammad Akram, 50, Abdul Mannan, 6, Zainab, 3, Razia, 60, Mariyam, 45, and Shabana, 35.

Multiple teams of Rescue 1122 reached the spot and shifted the deceased and the injured person, including Farkhanda, 36, and Sarfraz, 32, to Allied Hospital where Sarfraz succumbed to his injuries.
