Following PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah’s arrest a day earlier, a meeting of the party’s advisory group was convened by Shehbaz Sharif where senior leaders were briefed in detail regarding the arrest. His arrest was severely condemned by all part members.
"Rana Sanaullah is not only an asset to PML-N but an asset to Pakistan's politics," stated Shehbaz.
Speaking about the "failed policies" of the PM, Shehbaz stated the premier is scared of the opposition and that is the reason why he does not attend the National Assembly sessions.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the "government and some institutions are making plans for further arrests" and called these arrests a way to distract the people from the budget and in the country.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Shehbaz lamented that former premier Nawaz Sharif has been denied adequate medical care and food from home while in prison.
"Imran Khan himself has directed that Nawaz's doctor not be allowed to visit him," Shehbaz alleged.
Referring to PML-N MPA's meeting with the PM, Shehbaz said the party has sought reply from members regarding the reason of the meeting.
"The prime minister is causing severe damage to Pakistan, and for the next generation," Shehbaz added.
PPP reaction
Reacting to Rana Sanaullah’s arrest Pakistan Peoples Party leader Qamar Zaman Kaira told a press briefing though institutes are respected for the sacrifices they have rendered for the country red line should not cross.
The PPP leader said there were no evidence of Rana Sanullah possessing drugs at the time of his arrest.
“Action against Rana Sanaullah looks false as no accusation of the sort has surfaced in past against him,” he added.
“We respect institutes but the work cannot be done by pulling strings,” he added.
He further stated that it was not for the government but those responsible should not be involved in such tactics.
