Motor Cycling: Rossi seeks Italian renaissance

MUGELLO: Sunday’s Italian MotoGP marks Italian legend Valentino Rossi’s first race in front of his home fans since joining Ducati. ‘The Doctor’ has yet to seal his switch from Yamaha with a win and is hoping to correct that state of affairs at Mugello. Despite his lack of recent success, Rossi is still lying fourth in the riders’ standings, 55 points adrift of leader Casey Stoner, whose series of three straight wins was halted by Ben Spies at Assen last weekend. Rossi has fond memories of Mugello although he left last year’s meeting on crutches after breaking his right leg in a crash during practice.
