The court announced the previously reserved verdict and adjourned the hearing till July 12. The petition filed by the defence counsel seeking dismissal of the reference was rejected. The defence counsel had argued that the reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was based on mala fide intent and filed for political vengeance. Speaking to the media after the hearing, Durrani said that the accountability court’s acceptance of the reference will be challenged by him in the Sindh High Court. He said that such conditions were not new for Pakistan Peoples Party and that he and his party were prepared to face the situation. “I will face the conspiracies being hatched against the party,” he added.
