BHAKKAR: Setting up an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ward equipped with the latest facilities in District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Bhakkar is in accordance with the objectives of the provincial government, said Sargodha Commissioner Zafar Iqbal Sheikh.
He said this while inaugurated an ICU, which has been completed under a revamping project, at the DHQ Hospital in Bhakkar.
Bhakkar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Waqas Rasheed, ADC Revenue Abid Hussain Bhatti, Health CEO Dr Sheikh Muhammad Saeed, DHQ Hospital medical superintendent and several other officers were present on the occasion.

After inaugurating the ICU ward, the divisional commissioner inspected the standard of work and medical facilities at the ward. He also inspected the emergency ward of the hospital. Taking a look at the performance of the emergency healthcare system in various departments, he also inquired about the problems from the patients.
He directed the hospital administration to maintain the best possible performance for the entire healthcare system of the hospital.
He expressed satisfaction said that Sargodha’s DHQ Hospital enjoys prominent importance in terms of the delivery service. “It is every possible effort of the chief minister and chief secretary of the province to not let any shortfalls in the treatment facilities to the public.”
Speaking to The Express Tribune, the Sargodha commissioner shared that a list of government hospitals lacking facilities has been prepared. “The provincial government has been comprehensively apprised about health-related problems in the division.” He added that the problems of the hospitals located across the division will be resolved on a priority basis so that patients do not face any hindrance pertaining to health facilities.

The Health CEO briefed the DC and Sargodha Commissioner and said that considering the public facilities, the ICU ward has been set up in the DHQ and all the necessary arrangements have been completed. “The free treatment facilities being offered to the patients admitted in the ICU will prove to be effective. Highly skilled doctors along with their staff will remain operational for the patients in Bhakkar day and night.”
Officer Rao Jameel who was present on the occasion remarked that the setting up of the ICU ward in the DHQ Hospital is a welcoming step for the patients in Bhakkar. “Now, this facility will no longer require local patients to travel long distances just to visit hospitals in other cities of the country. These wide-ranging facilities will prove to be really helpful for local patients.”
