ISLAMABAD: In view of the wrong use of social media, the Ministry of Law and Justice has prepared a draft to introduce amendments in the cybercrime law.

Minister for Law and Justice Barrister Farogh Naseem said that new rules regarding cybercrime are being framed and will be presented in cabinet once finalised.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has also directed to work on the issue.

Naseem said that new rules will help overcome many flaws and improve things manifold.

Laying stress on balancing the cybercrime law, the minister said that the basic and human rights as well as freedom of expression have also to be considered.

He noted that there should be no restriction on the freedom of expression but along with it, anti-state and fake news should also be discouraged.

He said that he cannot speak openly about the new rules until they are approved.
