NEW YORK: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday lauded Pakistan’s contribution to various UN activities, especially the world body’s peacekeeping operations, and called for unity among members. Speaking at a dinner held for him by Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Abdullah Hussain Haroon, Ban said that apart from climate change, the implementation of the Millenium Development Goals was one of his top priorities. They are a set of development targets that aim to reduce poverty by half and improve the standard of living in the world’s poorest countries by 2015. Ban also praised his host for his “exceptional diplomatic skills” that helped strengthen Pakistan’s relationship with the UN, said a press release by the Pakistan Mission.
