PESHAWAR: TransPeshawar, the urban mobility company set up by the provincial government to operate the mass transit project Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Peshawar, has clarified that its buses have not suffered any damage while standing under the open sky waiting for the completion of the dedicated corridor.

In a statement issued by the company on Thursday, TransPeshawar said that there is a misperception amongst the public and the mass media about Peshawar BRT buses being damaged due to exposure to the rains, dust and extreme heat.

The company assured that the buses can cope with tough weather conditions as they were customized keeping in mind Peshawar’s extreme weather conditions.

The bodies of the buses are made of non-corrosive material so there is no risk of corrosion due to water. Similarly, the body is made up of a material which is durable enough to handle direct sunlight.

The company further said that the buses are being washed periodically to keep them safe of excessive dust and a team of international experts from the supplier regularly inspect the buses. Moreover, the buses have a warranty of 24 months for all of their components and parts, excluding battery pack and motor which have a warranty of 12 years.

The physical body of all buses are designed to last 12 years, the company statement said. “The buses are not idle and are moved on a daily basis by various vendors for periodical running, drivers training, pre-delivery inspections and installation of Intelligent Transport System equipment. Thus, it is not practical to cover the buses due to their frequent usage, “a TransPeshawar representative said.
