NBP corruption case referred to banking court

The case against the former head of NBP was registered in 2017 by the excise department

KARACHI: A model court directed that the case pertaining to embezzlement of Rs830 million in the funds of the excise department be forwarded to a banking court on Wednesday.

South judicial magistrate Andal Shah heard the case against the former head of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Mohsin Furqan. The excise department submitted a report before the court which stated that the head of NBP committed a fraud of Rs830 million in excise department. A total of Rs294.5 million are missing.

South judicial magistrate remarked that this case falls under the banking court.

The case against the former head of NBP was registered in 2017 by the excise department.
