KARACHI: Pakistani cueists shine at the Asian 6-Red Championship as Babar Masih managed to win a silver medal, while Asjad Iqbal bagged a bronze in Doha, Qatar.

Babar lost the final to Iran's Amir Sarkhosh 7-4, while Asjad was awarded bronze for making it to the semis.

While three Pakistanis made it to the quarters, Muhammad Bilal lost just there.

"We can confirm four medals for Pakistan from our stint in Doha," Naveed Kapadia, the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association official and team manager had told The Express Tribune before the final. "It is going to be a repeat for Asian 6-Red, where last year we had one bronze and one silver. We have two bronze from Asian Championship as well, that was with the cueists from 18 countries, and one bronze from Asjad as he lost in the 6-red semi-final. It is a god performance, a very good one."

Three Pakistanis reach Asian Snooker Championship pre quarter-finals

Earlier, as Kapadia told, Pakistan got two bronze medals from the Asian Snooker Championship with Babar and Asjad reaching the semi-finals.

Asjad began his campaign at the 6-Red Championship by defeating defending champion Thailand's Thanawat Tiraponpaiboon in Group A, while later Babar also defeated him 6-0 in the quarter-final.

The Asian 6-red Team Championship starts late on Wednesday.
