The live action film was a musical. Thus, the clip instantly gathered attention for its inclusion of singers like Beyonce and Donald Glover singing the iconic Elton John-penned song Can You Feel The Love Tonight that was such a staple of the original.
Disney will be bringing Beyonce as Nala and Donald Glover as Simba in the remake version of film. Fans of the franchise have been eagerly waiting to hear a glimpse of both of them playing the roles of lioness and lion, respectively!
The song made the original Lion King an all-time favourite of the Disney’s animated canon, so its not surprising that director Jon Favreau thought to round off the cast with exceptional vocal and singing talents this time around.
For now, in addition to the duet, Mufasa the short clip, telling Simba, "Look at the stars—the great kings look down on us from those stars. And so will I" was also revealed.
The song's promo has already started creating buzz among fans worldwide because of the immense amount of nostalgia for the 90s classic. It is said to be the main determinants of the film's success or failure.
At the same time, the animation added a whimsical, storybook-like element to the original film, something that is missing this time around since audiences will be presented instead with a live-action recreation. But, let us wait for more reveals before the movie finally releases.
The new Lion King also features performances from Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, John Olliver, Keegan-Michael Key, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and James Earl Jones, among others.
