Six KESC labour union members granted bail

The district and sessions court, South granted six KESC labour union members interim bail on Thursday against a surety of Rs25,000 each.


Babar Sohail, Azizur Rehman and Shaukat Ali, were accused of rioting, damaging property and unlawful assembly in a case filed by KESC officer Amir Khan in the Defence police station on Wednesday. Dozens of KESC labour union members were present during the hearing.

On Wednesday evening Amir Khan filed an FIR with the Defence police that accused over 250 collective bargaining agent union workers of pelting the KESC office and cars with stones. The workers were staging a sit-in outside the KESC head office in Gizri and got riled up when they saw KESC director Amir Khan. The six men have been granted a pre-arrest bail - they have been called in for a hearing on July 7.
