Qatar's emir to pay two-day visit to Pakistan on Saturday

Several memorandums of understanding, agreements are expected to be signed between Islamabad and Doha

Qatar emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will arrive Pakistan on Saturday on two-day official state visit.

"Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is visiting Pakistan on June 22-23 on the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan," said a Foreign Office statement on Friday.

During his stay in Islamabad, Al Thani will hold talks with the premier and President Arif Alvi to "discuss ways and means of building a robust and mutually beneficial economic partnership".

Several MOUs, agreements "for enhanced bilateral cooperation in different areas" are expected to be signed between Islamabad and Doha.

Earlier, officials had claimed that the Qatari emir was likely to announce major investment in Pakistan during his visit to Islamabad.

He will be accompanied by a high level delegation comprising key ministers and senior officials of his cabinet, read the statement.

Al Thani previously visited Pakistan in March 2015.
