Iran wants Pakistan to resume work on gas pipeline, say Iranian parliamentarians

KARACHI: A six-member parliamentary delegation from Iran called on Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah at the CM House and discussed ways to enhance bilateral trade, exchange parliamentary, educational and trade delegations and facilitate each other, particularly in the fields of medicine, agriculture and livestock.

The delegation, led by Ahmad Amir Abadi Farhani, emphasised the need to launch bilateral trade between Iran and Pakistan, as well as with other Muslim countries, through barter and swap of currencies. Members of the delegation were of the view that this would help strengthen the local economy of the countries involved.

Additionally, they also maintained that Pakistan should resume work on the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline.

During the meeting, CM Shah said that Iran had made headway in the development of agriculture and livestock sectors, and expressed interest in benefitting from Iran's experience and expertise in these areas. He also stressed the need for the Muslim countries to foster unity among themselves so that they could collectively put up a strong front and fight against the enemies of Islam.

Presenting the guests with Ajraks and Sindhi caps, CM said that visits of parliamentary delegations would further strengthen bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan.

The visiting delegation invited CM Shah to visit Mashhad. The CM accepted the invitation and said that he would visit Iran soon.

The delegation comprised Mohammad Basit Darazahi, Mohammad Reza, Seyyed Morteza Khatemi, Mohammad Hosseini, Ali Yousefi and Ahmad Mohammadi. Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Information, Law and Anti-Corruption Murtaza Wahab and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sajid Jamal Abro also attended the meeting.
