SLACC assisted 28,620 callers seeking legal aid

KARACHI: Barrister Murtaza Wahab, the adviser to Sindh chief minister on information, law and anti-corruption, has said that after the success of the NICVD, PPP’s Sindh government had brought another initiative, Sindh Legal Advisory Call Centre (SLACC), for the people.

SLACC is geared at improving access to justice for the disempowered and marginalised segments of society, particularly women and religious minorities.

While talking to the media during his visit to the centre on Tuesday, the adviser said that SLACC started operations under public-private partnership with Legal Aid Society, under the umbrella of the law department on July 1, 2018. He said that 28,620 calls seeking legal assistance were received at the centre from across Pakistan.
