With the opposition already having rejected the Federal Budget 2019-20, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz said that lawmakers who will vote in its favour would be doing a disservice to the country.

According to Express News, the daughter of the three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif remarked while addressing the media outside the residence of PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique on Wednesday.

Speaking on the budget, which was rolled out by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led government on June 11, Maryam said: "It has piled on the misery they [the government] have ditched out since they have taken the reins."

While hitting out at Prime Minister Imran Khan's sister Aleema Khanum, the PML-N leader said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had its eyes set on the opposition, however, the anti-graft watchdog has turned a blind eye to her alleged corruption.

The Sharif family would not be intimidated by the jail sentences or fake cases against them and would continue to speak out against injustice, she added.

Maryam had gone to meet the family of the Rafique brothers, where she said:"Saad Rafique's only crime was beating the selected prime minister in the general election."

She added that the PML-N had been extremely hopeful that Rafique's bail application would be accepted.

The party's vice-president went on to say that Rafique's incarceration and sham cases against him is nothing more then political vicitimisation. "This is how those who  win the public's mandate are being treated by the government."

The scion of the Sharif political dynasty claimed that if the government had come into power through unfair means it is necessary to tell the truth to the well-informed public.

Maryam said that no one can stop her from speaking out against the injustices meted out by the the PTI government.

The PML-N leader said she would not leave the side of the people of Pakistan who have been buried in worries by government's policies. "He [Imran Khan] thinks he is still giving speeches on a container and has ruined the sanctity of parliament with his rhetoric."

She added that even if the government wants to hole up all opposition leaders behind bars it would still not be able to serve the public.

Shedding light on Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto's recent visit to the Sharif family's residence in Jati Umra, Maryam said the two parties mulled over removing Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani as well as future course of action regarding protesting the government's policies.

She added that Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif had also met several other leaders to discuss their future course of action.
