One of the victims, identified as Kalajayi, received four bullets – two in legs and as many in stomach – and is being treated in critical condition at Mardan Medical Complex Hospital, president of K-P’s transgender association Farzana told The Express Tribune on Tuesday.
Spoagmay, the other victim, on the other hand was hit by one bullet and is out of danger, she added.
Transgender person killed, two others injured in Jatta Ismail Khan firing incident
According to details, four persons belonging to the marginalised community were going to attend a party at Takht Bahi last night when attacked by unknown attackers. A first information report (FIR) of the incident has been registered at the local police station, said Farzana.
Meanwhile, Taimur Kamaal, coordinator of Trans Action Alliance, told The Express Tribune that 66 transgender persons have been killed without a single conviction in K-P since 2015.
A transgender person, Shakeela, was brutally tortured by criminals, who also shaved her head on first day of Eidul Fitr earlier this month, said Kamal, adding that police had completely failed to put an end to crime of such nature in the province.
