RAWALPINDI: Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench has sought a written reply within three weeks from Defence Secretary Lt Gen(retd) Ikramul Haq in contempt of court petition filed by two brothers who had been convicted by a military court.

Justice Waqas Mirza Rauf approved the petition for hearing.

The petition stated that the accused were not provided copies of the proceedings of the case leading to their conviction, charge sheet and inquiry report, which construed contempt of court.

Both the brothers, Halwadar Dilbar Ali and Rashid Ali a civilian, stated in the petition filed through Advocate Inamur Rahim that Hawaldar Dilbar Ali was arrested from Malir Unit in Jul 2011 while his brother Rahid Ali was arrested from home in April 2011.

A military court sentenced Hawaldar Dilbar to five-year imprisonment while his brother got three-year jail term for various charges.

However, the military court did not give the proceeding of case leading to their punishment, charge sheet and inquiry report to the accused which was contempt of court.
