RAWALPINDI:

The tension between Bahria Town administration and Opposition Leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan have escalated since the district revenue authorities refused to issue land records of the housing society or register their sale deeds.

Director Lands Bahria Town Hajji Amjad Mehmood on Wednesday filed a separate petition with Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi bench after Malik Riaz Hussain, owner of Bahria Town Housing Society, moved the same court on Tuesday after Rawalpindi police obtained warrants for his arrest.

Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Tariq of LHC has summoned district revenue officer Rawalpindi in court on July 8.

Mehmood maintained that the district revenue authorities have stopped issuing records of land ownership of Bahria Town for the last many months.

He said that the authorities are not registering the housing society’s land mutations (transfer of title of land from one person to another) or sale deeds of plots and houses.

He also alleged that the authorities wanted to dismantle a recently constructed road by Bahria Town in the suburbs of the city on the pretext of encroachment.

Mehmood alleged that the district authorities are involved in such “illegal activities” on behest of Pakistan Muslim League-N MNA Chuahdry Nisar Ali Khan, making the district coordination officer, district revenue officer, tehsildar settlement, tehsildars of Rawalpindi, Kalar Syedan, Kahuta, and the city police officer as respondents.

The petitioner said that the opposition leader, Khan, wanted Bahria Town administration to support him politically but when he could not win the support he started creating problems for the housing society.

The petitioner has prayed to the court to ensure
that the authorities do not create illegal problems for
the housing society that has been operating “professionally” in the area for a long time and refrains from politics.
