Atrium cinema, which has become the go-to theatre in Karachi, had already started the marketing campaign, announcing that the movie would be screened for public on July 1st, a 10 day advance notice to cinegoers.
However, on Wednesday evening Atrium Cinema posted a statement on its facebook page saying the Central Board of Film Censors in Islamabad had not passed the film for public exhibition, barring its public exhibition across cinemas in Pakistan.
Pakistani cinemas had been dying a slow death before new life was injected by lifting a ban on screening Indian films. This brought audiences back to theatres, prompting massive investment in cinemas like Atrium which has 3D capability.
Censor Board officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

When we were children in the 1970's, they had adults only movie. We used to somehow sneak in. The management tried their best to stop us but as soon as we (me and my friend) saw a crowd at the entrance pushing we would get in the middle and the management were powerless. Finding us inside the dark theater was impossible. Once my friend was caught by the management, had his ears pulled and was thrown out of the theater. The films were good especially the hot scenes. Still remember them.
Problem with Pakistan censor board is the fact that it has only ONE rating, FOR ALL.
We should devise a proper rating system, but then there is a problem of enforcing a ban.
If a film is unsuitable for children that is no reason for banning it for adults.
There is a reason why this movie is not suitable for young people. Good decision by the Censor Board.
I agree with the Censor Board. Dehli Belly is an "ADULTS ONLY" movie and should not be shown. Other Indian movies are usually for all ages.
