PSQCA to launch crackdown against illegal cosmetics

LAHORE: Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has prepared a comprehensive plan to eradicate substandard, illegal and harmful cosmetics from markets, and started market sampling.

Spokesman for PSQCA said on the special directions of the Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry, PSQCA Director General Abdul Aleem Memon gave task to Lahore Standard Development Centre (SDC) Director Zone Muhammad Yaseen Akhtar for taking action against substandard, illegal and harmful cosmetics. In the first phase, the PSQCA team led by the director started open market sampling and sent a large number of samples to the laboratory for testing.

Director Yaseen Akhtar said the team would seize whole prepared stock, stopping production of the companies registered with PSQCA if found involve in using harmful elements.
