Nation celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr with traditional fervour

Eidul Fitr is being celebrated across Pakistan on Wednesday with traditional zeal and fervor. Congregational prayers were held across the country to mark the end of the holy month of Ramazan.

President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday felicitated the nation and Muslims across the globe in separate messages.

President Alvi urged Pakistanis to adopt "fraternity and compassion in their ranks and work for the progress and prosperity of the country by rising above personal, regional and sectarian biases."

"The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr carries the essence of Islamic values and traditions and also symbolizes the religious ethos," he added.



PM Imran urged the countrymen to show compassion and share with deserving people. "The government has embarked upon the journey to put the country on the track of progress and prosperity," he wrote. "The State of Madinah had become a model in human history that had won laurels for contributing to human welfare."



The armed forces also wished Pakistanis on the occasion.

The military wished a happy Eid to fellow Pakistanis.
“Eid Mubarak with prayers for peace, progress, and prosperity of Pakistan," wrote Director-General Major-General Asif Ghafoor.

Federal capital

In Islamabad, President Alvi along with parliamentarians and diplomats of Islamic countries offered Eid prayers at the Faisal Mosque.

Punjab

Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar offered prayers in Lahore while the main congregation was held at the Badshahi Mosque and was also attended by Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar.

Sindh

In Karachi, the festivities began with a 21 gun-salute followed by special prayers for the safety, security, and prosperity of the country and unity of the Muslim ummah.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Although parts of the province celebrated Eid on Tuesday, the rest followed the federal government to mark the end of the holy month today.

Congregation prayers were held in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar and different areas of Dera Ismail Khan Divisions.

Meanwhile, Governor Shah Farman offered Eid prayer in Nathia Gali, Abbottabad. Chief Minister Mehmood Khan met with the people belonging to different walks of life on the occasion.

Balochistan

In Quetta, more than 180 Eid congregations were held at open places, Imambargahs and Eid Gah’s while the main congregation was held at Eid Gah Toghi Road Quetta.

Governor Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Chief Minister Mir Jam Kamal Khan offered Eid prayer at Governor House in Quetta.

The Chairman Senate Mir Sadiq Sanjrani and Deputy Speaker National Assembly, Muhammad Qasim Khan Suri are also celebrating Eid in Quetta.
