Surkh Chandni brings a sensitive social issue under the spot light while addressing the rising number of acid attacks in the country. The show stars Osman Khalid Butt, Sohai Ali Abro and Mansha Pasha in pivotal roles.

While Abro plays an acid attack survivor and Butt plays her love interest, Pasha will take on the role of an antagonist. While the teaser of the much-awaited show came out last week, Butt shared a heartfelt poetry piece from the show on his Instagram account.

"Mai Kitni Khoobsurat Thi. Presenting a powerful poetry piece by Ali Imran written for Surkh Chandni and dedicated to the indomitable spirit of acid attack survivors," the Balu Mahi star captioned the video.

The video also includes several real life acid attack survivors. Paying tribute to their courage, Butt added, "Through unimaginable suffering, societal apathy, lack of government support, proper rehabilitation and abandonment, you have persevered. You became warriors when you never should have had to. Your lives and stories are an inspiration."

Surkh Chandni depicts the life of an acid attack victim and how she speaks up against the injustice done to her. It also acknowledges and emphasises the legislation of acid and burns crime bills.

“My character is somebody who causes an acid attack,” Pasha earlier  said on why she chose a negative role.

“It also sheds light on the fact that men and women can both equally be the reason behind the acid attacks. The reason I took up this particular project was because I haven’t done anything negative as such in my entire career and this wasn’t just a typical negative character.”

The serial is directed by Shahid Shafaat and written by Asma Nabeel. Cast members include Asad Siddiqui, Lubna Aslam and Gul-e-Rana among others.
