Education stipend distributed among minority students

Special quota will be reserved for them in technical education institutions

BAHAWALPUR: Cheques of education stipend worth Rs1.135 million were distributed among 49 students belonging to minorities at Circuit House Bahawalpur.

Punjab Minister for Food Samiullah Chaudhry and Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Ejaz Alam Augustine distributed the cheques.

Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhry said education was the key to progress and government was paying special attention to this sector. He said Pakistan's future is in safe hands and mistakes of the past should not be repeated. Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Ejaz Alam Augustine said government has provided a stipend of Rs50 million to the students of minority communities.

He said that special quota will be reserved for minority students in technical education institutions. He also said jail inmates belonging to minority communities will be given relief in their terms of imprisonment like Muslim jail inmates are given on Eid and other occasions.
