He expressed these views while presided over a meeting at Central Police Office on Thursday to discuss the departmental promotion, administrative and policy matters of Punjab Police.
IGP Nawaz said meritorious departmental promotion on the basis of seniority is due right of every officer and official of which force cannot be deprived on the basis of length of duration spent in field duty. He directed all departments concerned to send recommendations for the departmental promotion of officers and officials so that a final policy could be devised regarding field duty, inquiries, inspection and rotation policy, in next meeting of Police Executive Board scheduled on June 20.
He further said the delay in promotion process also caused a delay in the formulation of a strategy to complete the inquiries within due time.
He said letters of displeasure should also be issued to the officers who were causing hindrance in timely completion of ACRs.
The IGP said in order to improve the performance of the force, senior officers should provide a better working environment and also ensure timely redressal of the problems of police personnel so they could perform their duty with commitment. During meeting, senior officers also voiced their thoughts on which IGP directed all Addl IGP, s to submit their recommendations after reviewing their departments so that policies can be reshaped.
Meeting was attended by Additional IGP Establishment Punjab Ahmad Latif, Additional IGP Training Tariq Masood Yasin, Additional IGP Operations Inam Ghani, Additional IG Welfare and Finance Rao Sardar, Additional IG PHP Manzoor Sarwar, Additional IGP Investigation Abubakar Khuda Baksh and other senior officers to discuss important issues regarding field duty and promotion of force.
