58.7 million children in Pakistan living in multidimensional poverty

ISLAMABAD: National Commissioner for Children at Federal Ombudsmen Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi on Monday said that Federal Ombudsman was working to resolve the health issue and overcome malnutrition in children to make them as future asset. “Unhygienic food affecting the long-term health and well-being of children, so our department is working hard to tackle these issues,” he said. Qureshi said that Federal Ombudsman for children had highlighted the problem of Malnutrition to overcome from various issues. He said that Sustainable Development Policy Institute report shows that 58.7 million children in Pakistan were living in multidimensional poverty with 46 per cent of rural population and 18 per cent of urban households falling below the poverty line which was one of the great cause of malnutrition. He said that due to lack of proper medical facilities in the remote areas, malnutrition has high rate in country and soon it would be handled.
