Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan conferred upon highest civilian award

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi conferred Nishan-e-Pakistan award to visiting Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan in recognition of his services in promoting Pakistan-China relations at an impressive ceremony held at President House on Sunday.

Nishan-e-Pakistan is the highest civil award that is granted for the highest degree of service to the country and nation of Pakistan.

The ceremony was attended by Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, services chiefs, cabinet members, MNAs and foreign dignitaries, reported Radio Pakistan.

Following ceremony at President House, VP Wang visited Prime Minister house where he was received by PM Imran Khan.



Chinese vice president arrived in Islamabad this afternoon on Sunday on a three-day official visit.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other high officials received him at Noor Khan Airbase.



The visit, pegged to strengthen ties and cooperation, is a continuation of high-level exchanges between the two sides following the premier's visits to China and participation in the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing last month.

A spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministery has said that Wang Qishan's trip "will further deepen high-level exchanges, friendship and mutual trust between the two countries".

"The visit will also advance the development of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) besides bilateral cooperation across the board."

He added that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners and iron friends, and firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's foreign interests.

"Pakistan has been a priority on China’s diplomacy and now both the countries have witnessed a sound momentum in their cooperation and frequent high-level exchanges."

Both countries are deepening their mutually beneficial cooperation and are conducting close coordination in international and regional affairs.

Sharath Chandra | 4 years ago | Reply President Dr Arif Alvi has as also assured the Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan that a minimum of 40% seats in the Pakistan parliament will be reserved for Chinese.
