ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Saturday refuted Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s allegations against the government, saying that they were aimed at diverting attention from his party’s corruption.

“Bilawal is hurling baseless allegations against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hide his party’s corruption, mismanagement and bad performance in Sindh,” the prime minister’s aide said in response to the PPP chairman’s media talk earlier in the day.

“The present government is healing the wounds inflicted on the economy by the previous governments and determined to pull the country out of its financial crisis,” she added.

Awan said the economy had suffered because of the corruption and defective policies of the past governments.

“Pakistan is moving in the right direction under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan,” she added.

She maintained that the opposition parties were hatching conspiracies against the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman to pressure him and influence corruption cases against them.
