“I am also expecting the same justice Shoaib and Younus got and I am hopeful that my ban will be reversed in the hearing on June 19,” Rana told The Express Tribune on Tuesday.
Malik and Khan, who also faced similar bans were permitted to play international cricket and included in the national squad departing for the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka o June 12, following their hearings chaired by Justice Qadir and Rana is the only player left whose appeal is yet to be accepted. Another former captain, Muhammad Yousuf, has so far not filed an appeal against his indefinite ban.
Rana, who has played nine Tests and 74 ODIs besides four Twenty20 Internationals for his country, said he was desperately looking forward to become eligible for the national team. The all-rounder arrived last week from England where he played five four-day matches and a One-Day tie for his County side Sussex, to appear in his hearing along with his lawyer Imran Aziz Qureshi.
“I am here to appear in my hearing and would definitely attend it with my lawyer,” he said, adding that the allegations against him were less serious than his other teammates who have already been cleared from their bans. He said he wanted to be a member of the national team that will be touring England for a series against the hosts, as well as Australia.
“I want to be a part of the national team in England, but it depends on the selectors. The first thing that I am looking forward is to get my name cleared from allegations of indiscipline,” he said.
