Statement on Indian elections will be issued after official results: FO spokesperson

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will leave for Saudi Arabia on an official visit on May 27, stated Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal.

At his weekly briefing, the spokesperson stated that Pakistan wants issues between United Stated and Iran to be resolved through mutual dialogue.

FO spokesperson avoided discussing the meeting of Qureshi with India's Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) moot, saying the Pakistani FM will issue a statement soon.

A statement on Indian elections will also be issued after official results, the FO spokesperson added.

On Kashmir dispute, the foreign office spokesperson said there cannot be any change in the status of Kashmir without plebiscite in the territory as per the United Nations Security Council resolutions and aspirations of Kashmiri people.

The spokesperson denounced Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir and illegal detention of Hurriyat leaders.

The Iranian foreign minister – arriving today in Islamabad – is expected to meet Qureshi tomorrow where both will discuss bilateral, regional and international matters

Speaking on the matter of Bangladesh not issuing visas to Pakistanis, the spokesperson confirmed the Bangladeshi authorities have suspended visa issuance. "Pakistan is in contact with Bangladeshi authorities. We want friendly ties with all the countries," he added.
