Minister says govt has zero-tolerance for graft

Directs department to ensure use of quality material in govt buildings

Balochistan Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Arif Jan Muhammad Hassani on Tuesday directed the C&W department to ensure use of quality material in construction of government buildings as he vowed to end corruption from his department.

“Appropriate and quality construction of government buildings has become our future need. We have to construct environmental friendly buildings,” Hassani said while chairing a meeting to review affairs of the C&W department.


Lamenting over corrupt practices in his department during previous governments, he said corrupt people were involved in damaging the department but the new government has made it clear that it would pursue zero-tolerance policy toward corruption and negligence.

“Provincial government has been taking speedy measures to make sure social development and we have vowed to end corruption from the province,” he said.

The meeting decided to appoint officers having good character and honesty and noted that officers who have completed their tenure in various areas would be transferred. The minister directed the authorities to reclaim C&W’s rest houses from land grabbers.
