We the privileged can play a positive role in their lives by helping Meeru and many like him
RAWALPINDI: I am writing this at the request of Meeru, a motor mechanic. According to Meeru, on May 1, he was invited on a television show to talk about his everyday struggles that he has to go through to make ends meet. Unfortunately, Meeru had to work even on May 1st. All I want to say through this letter is that we the privileged can play a positive role in their lives by helping Meeru and many like him, by treating them better or possibly by having them not to work on just one day of a year.
The hope that I saw on Meeru’s face after I told him that I would write a letter in his name is unforgettable. I wonder how many more Meerus are there who don’t get a day’s rest because they have to provide for their families!
