
The Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) passed its annual budget for the year 2011-2012 on Monday but it does not have any new increases for scholarships.
The budget was passed at a meeting on campus under the chairmanship of SSUET vice chancellor Prof. Dr Saiyid Nazir Ahmed.
In the current budget, the university lists completing the telecom faculty a priority with financial help from the endowment fund. The construction of the new academic block is next on the list, followed by the construction of the new SSUET campus in the IT Park.
A total of Rs37.5 million have been earmarked for buying equipment for the telecom faculty Rs12.3 million and Rs8.8 million have been allocated for the new academic block and the new campus, respectively.
The budget shows SSUET’s income is Rs714.84 million with Rs627 million marked for spending and Rs84.9 million set aside for development, making the budget a surplus by Rs2.54 million.
Other expenditures include Rs1.5 million for research projects, Rs3.5 million for research by faculty, Rs1.5 million for the PhD graduate programme and Rs3 million for buying books, research journals and equipment for the library.
